Exciting matchups in this years OMHA playoffs

Ajax-Pickering Raiders

The Raiders had an exceptional season and head into the playoffs with the #1 seed in the OMHA east division. Since the new year the Raiders have 11 wins and only 2 losses. They are a team with a ton of depth at every position. Captain Luke Bouchard led the way, finishing with 37 points in 32 games. The Raiders coaching staff did a great job getting the best out of each player this season. Ajax-Pickering will look to continue their momentum through these playoffs and into the OMHA championship

Barrie Jr Colts

Barrie had another great U16 team this season and finished with the second seed in the OMHA east division. The Colts are driven up front by Brock Chitaroni and Lachlan Larmand. Both players finished the regular season with over 50 points. The Colts are a hard checking and solid defensive team as well. They will need to be clicking both offensively and defensively if they want to get through a stacked OMHA east division.

York Simcoe Express

York Simcoe continues to be a powerhouse program. They continue to turn out high level prospects. Ryerson Edgar was a dominant force all season and finished with 33 goals and 60 points. Benjamin Veitch is another high end prospect that is eligible for the 2025 QMJHL draft. YSE is also a strong defensive team. Defensively they are lead by Logan McAulay and Evan Pahanich. York Simcoe has a history of performing well in the playoffs and this team has a great chance to continue that success.

Peterborough Petes

The Petes are one of the hardest working teams in the OMHA east division. Their Captain Nathan White leads by example and never takes a shift off. Forward Garrett Jones led the charge offensively for the Petes and finished with 43 points on the season. Another high impact player for Peterborough is forward Zach Kinchen, who not only brings a scoring touch but can be a physical force up front. The Petes will have a tough road ahead but could pull out some big upsets if they play to their full potential.

Quinte Red Devils

Quinte is another solid team that could surprise in these playoffs. The Red Devils had a great season but will need to dig themselves out of a three game losing streak to end the season. The Devils have solid scoring depth. Four players finished the season with double digit goals. Captain Blake Munnings is a very interesting defensive prospect that brings a nice blend of size, strength and skating ability. It will be interesting to see how Quinte utilizes their goaltending, as both Ayden Mullen and Lilya Reid have played great for the Devils this season.

Halton Hurricanes

The Hurricanes finished the regular season with an impressive 29-1-3 record. Haltons success starts their goaltending and many scouts believe Cole Vreugdenhil is the top goaltending prospect in the OMHA. Halton has many offensive weapons. Aleksandr Sementsov, Alex Taylor and Jacob Scarpelli all finished the season with over 20 goals. Sementsov led the entire OMHA with 76 points in the season. Look for Halton and Oakville to have some intense matchups in these playoffs.

Oakville Rangers

Oakville was a consistent force throughout the season, finishing with 29 wins and 4 losses. The Rangers have two solid goaltending prospects in Charlie Weiss and 2010 born Marko Mesich. Giacomo Del Priore led the team offensively with 57 points on the season. Oakville’s biggest strength is their defensive depth. The Rangers defence is not only big and physical but they also contribute offensively. Alex Forrest was one of our top ranked defensive prospects all season and the Rangers will need him ready to lead the team into some tough playoff matchups.

Niagara North Stars

Niagara was an exciting team to watch this season. They had six players finish the season with double digit goals. Goaltending was also a strength for Niagara. Both Reif Steenhuis and Nicholas Soliman had under 2.00 goals against average. Forwards Keiran Raynor, Cooper Oikawa and Chase Partridge are all intriguing OHL prospects. The North Stars are a tough team to play against. If they get hot it would not be a surprise if they make a run for the OMHA championship.
